We may not always be successful on the road to dreams. Sometimes a small pebblestone, sometimes a giant rock, can be appeared on this road. I wish we could solve all our problems with the convenience of drinking a cup of coffee ..

But do you think the important thing is to try?

Today I going to tell you about the adventure of Flash, a doomed of destiny on mobile platforms.

It has recently confirmed that Flash will no longer support the software after December 31, 2020 and will not be actively working after January 12, 2021. When I saw another legend leave to the island, it made me think of the “why” question. So let’s travel back in time and beamed up to 2010.

I clearly remember that I was incredibly excited when Adobe announced that Flash for Android will be available soon. It was the dream of many users to have such an experience on mobile devices. Unfortunately, this was all smoke and mirrors..

Other companies were included in the new era mobile device technology initiated by Apple in a short time and expectations increased day by day. Users wanted Flash to provide experience like a computer.

Flash specifically assumes that you have a mouse cursor that can hover, click and drag over the video. There is no equivalent in an Android phone. The size of the buttons inside the video player was not optimized for smart devices.

Performance and battery life issues were probably the most annoying issues Adobe had to deal with. Flash is designed to run on desktop x86 systems. The lower power ARM chips that make smartphones great but unfortunately have hampered Flash Player’s performance.

One of the first companies to break off the flash player was Apple. The tension between the two companies was extremely high. Adobe claimed that the responsible of the problems was caused by Apple’s software glitches. Steve Jobs made a statement to the press that Flash would be removed from Apple products due to battery, performance and security issues.

You’ve probably watched lots of smooth videos on your mobile device. The reason is that ARM devices have hardware video decoding capability for H.264 video. Almost all of the HTML5 videos you’ve encountered so far are an H.264 video embedded in an MP4. Smart phones are very good at decoding this type of file with their efficient battery usage. Flash can never compete with this kind of performance.

Adobe is not a small company, but it couldn’t set and optimize enough bits to play the video acceptably.

No matter how hard Flash tried, Flash would never work well on Android.I have never been enthused to enter a Flash web page. Flash didn’t work on Android, but at least Flash tried something. I think that that is the important thing.

The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do.
